Virginia’s Innovation Crossroads: Rebrand
Bridging history and innovation with a bold, flexible brand
At Taoti, I led the art direction and brand development for Virginia's Innovation Crossroads, formerly the Fredericksburg Regional Alliance, helping the organization step into a fresh, forward-looking identity while honoring the region’s rich history and tradition.
The challenge was to create a brand that felt both rooted and modern, capturing the area’s growing commerce, strategic location, and inclusive spirit, without losing the sense of local character. To achieve this, I developed a comprehensive visual system that combines contemporary typography, dynamic layouts, and versatile graphic elements that reflect the energy and potential of the region.
At the center of the identity is a logo built from two overlapping shapes coming together to symbolize collaboration, community, and connection. The forms represent the localities that make up the region, while the negative space between them creates a central meeting point, reflecting how partners, industries, and ideas converge to move the region forward together. The mark can also be interpreted as a bridge and its reflection.
To extend the identity beyond the logo, I developed a system of signature “brand lines” that visually reinforce innovation, movement, and interconnectedness. Inspired by the region’s rivers, infrastructure, and industrial activity, these lines act as a flexible graphic device throughout the brand, used as leading lines, framing elements, and color-blocking devices.
I also produced a full suite of templates, social assets, and brand guidelines to ensure a cohesive look across platforms. The result is a flexible, vibrant identity that positions Virginia's Innovation Crossroads as both a destination and a driver for innovation, ready to evolve alongside the community it represents.
